After a girl was viciously attacked by a group of men in Tangshan, Hebei province, debates over the safety of women in China erupted on Chinese social media. The footage of the child being bullied went viral on Chinese social media platforms Weibo and WeChat on June 10. The viral video’s debate was almost entirely controlled by social media. It also gained popular on Baidu, a Chinese internet search engine.
