TikTok admits collecting location data

The Albanese government is considering recommendations from a Department of Home Affairs review into security risks posed by social media use, which is expected to include a ban on TikTok across all government devices. In August last year, TikTok told the Financial Review it did not collect precise GPS location; however, on Friday TikTok acknowledged it can do so in regions where Location Services are enabled on mobile phones.
