Moore Threads, known for its innovative solutions, has ventured into the APU segment with the launch of the 'Yangtze' architecture for laptops. This new chip features a 12-core CPU under the 'ARMv8' architecture, coupled with an integrated GPU based on the company's MUSA architecture. The chip, integrated into the MTT AIBOOK, boasts impressive specifications including 32 GB DDR5-7500 memory, 1 TB SSD capacity, and a 120 Hz OLED panel.
Moore Threads aims to target the mid-to-high-end workloads with the AIBOOK but the highlight remains the self-built chip onboard. Featuring a 12-core CPU, 2.65 GHz boost clock, and a high-end integrated GPU, the chip also includes a 50 TOPS NPU for AI processing. Designed for speech and image recognition, the chip supports H.265/H.264/AV1 formats and is positioned to cater to the AI PC segment in China.
The AIBOOK is priced at around $1,440 on China's JD.com, marking Moore Threads' entry into the APU market. The company's foray into the laptop SoC segment reflects the growing trend of deploying local hardware for AI applications in China. While the specifications of the 'Yangtze' chip look promising on paper, real-world performance benchmarks will be crucial in determining its success in the competitive market.
