There is a new AI–powered robot pharmacist, Galbot G1, in Beijing's Haidian District. Developed by Beijing Galbot Co. Ltd, the robot is designed to assist in pharmacies, subject to the operating company holding a valid pharmaceutical distribution permit.
Galbot G1 boasts advanced automation features that enable it to identify, retrieve, and package medicines efficiently, including delicate and irregularly shaped items. The system has an impressive success rate of 99.5 percent in accurately handling medications, enhancing operational precision and speed in pharmacies.
Galbot G1 is tailored for fast-paced retail settings, offering streamlined processes for selling pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and wellness products. By automating tasks like inventory audits, restocking, and packaging, the robot enhances operational efficiency and accuracy for pharmacies. Equipped with AI visual recognition and traceability code scanning, the robot can track medicine shelf life and prevent the sale of expired drugs. However, the company has not revealed how it secures patient personally identifiable health information.
The introduction of the AI-powered robot pharmacist underscores the increasing integration of artificial intelligence in healthcare services, signaling a broader trend towards smart service models in community pharmacies throughout China. Local regulators view this deployment as a demonstration of the evolving landscape of healthcare services, driven by innovative technologies like AI.
