After multiple videos surfaced of people being able to shut down e-rickshaws by taking control of their batteries, the government ordered the removal of seven Chinese battery management apps. As per the government, Apple and Google were ordered to take down software like BAT-BMS, Smart BMS, Lossigy and Epoch-i-ion, from their app stores.The order — against the backdrop of bans and takedowns since the Galwan confrontation in 2020 — marks the first to address issues of data security, sovereignty and remote interference linked to vehicle devices.
