Convergys Corporation, the global player in integrated billing, employee care, and customer care services, announced today the successful completion of its first product deployment in China.

Convergys completed the implementation of its Infinys software for China Unicom Guangdong, a provincial operator of China Unicom Ltd., the second-largest wireless carrier in China. Convergys integrated Infinys with China Unicom Guangdong's billing platform to support subscriber activation of convergent service offerings across 17 different network element types in multiple cities throughout the province. Convergys will also support provisioning subscribers on new network elements and service offerings as they are introduced.

Convergys announced a contract to license its Infinys activation management software to China Unicom Guangdong in July 2003. China Unicom, which is the only provider of integrated communications services in China, offers a range of services including cellular, paging, long distance, data, and Internet services, with 79.6 million cellular services subscribers, 13 million paging subscribers, and 7.6 million Internet subscribers.

Convergys works with various integration partners in China. Bright Oceans Inter Telecommunications (BOCO), a leading Chinese telecommunications solutions systems integrator, provided the hardware support and environment configuration for this implementation. Infinys software is built on a modular architecture that provides unsurpassed flexibility, investment protection, and support. With Infinys software, Convergys clients–ranging from mobile to fixed and cable service providers–have the capability for rapid market innovation in their bundling of voice, data, video, and content for their residential and business customers.
