Inspur Group, parent of Inspur International Limited, has announced that it has acquired the Xi'an research and development center of the German-based memory chip maker Qimonda AG for CNY30 million.
Founded in 2004, Qimonda's Xi'an R&D center has a complete design and development chain. It previously was responsible for the entire design and development process of Qimonda's computer and consumer DRAM products. The acquisition also includes the design and development team of this R&D center, which ensures the independent operating and research capacity of the center after the acquisition.
With this acquisition, Inspur Group will not only gain state-of-the-art integrated circuit design team and research platform, but also will gain powerful support for its development in hardware core technologies, covering high-performance server and massive storage.
Inspur Group will reportedly integrate this Xi'an R&D center with its existing IC design center in Shandong to create an international-class IC design and development platform.
