The first terrestrial cable transmission system between China and India, jointly developed with India's Reliance Communications and China Telecom, has recently opened.

According to China Telecom, the completion of this terrestrial cable transmission system changes the current communication situation between the two countries. Prior to this, all communications between China and India needed to transit via international cables in Singapore.

The new terrestrial cable transmission system, which crosses Xigaze, Tibet, will be opened with a lower capacity and can be expanded to 4.8 terabit per second, which is over a thousand times more than the existing communication bandwidth between the two countries.
