BYD has introduced the Blade Battery 2.0, its latest cutting-edge battery for electric vehicles. The Chinese company is set to incorporate this advanced power cell into its upcoming luxury electric sedan, the Yangwang U7, offering an impressive range of 625 miles. The Blade Battery 2.0 stands out for its rapid charging capabilities, boasting the ability to charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes, making it one of the fastest-charging options in the industry.
Utilizing BYD’s Flash Charging technology, the battery can even perform efficiently in cold climates, with the ability to charge from 20% to 97% in under 12 minutes at temperatures as low as -4°F (-20°C). The company states that this technology can deliver up to 1.5 megawatts of power, ensuring quick and reliable charging for users. The Blade Battery 2.0’s range of 625 miles is validated by China’s CLTC testing standard, although real-world driving conditions may result in a slightly lower range of approximately 400 miles per charge.
The impressive performance of the Blade Battery 2.0 can be attributed to its composition, which features lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. This composition not only enables fast charging but also helps reduce the overall costs of electric vehicle batteries. BYD’s commitment to innovation in battery technology has positioned the company as a leader in the EV market, offering consumers a compelling blend of long-range capabilities and rapid charging speeds.
