A Chinese technology firm has patented a new artificial intelligence system designed to predict and automatically counter network attacks in real time, highlighting China’s advancing technical capabilities in dual-use, AI-driven cyber defense.
According to filings from China’s National Intellectual Property Administration published Oct. 16, 2026, Hangzhou Zhangdong Technology Co., Ltd. secured the patent (CN122933257A) for "A Dynamic Defense Strategy Generation Method Based on Temporal Graph Neural Networks." Developed by inventors Gu Sihao, Gong Xudong, and Zhou Xin, the technical framework relies on deep learning algorithms to track and neutralize threat evolutions across complex digital networks.
The system processes network security data into dynamic graph sequences, feeding them into a specialized threat evolution model known as DySAT. By continuously tracking how cyber intrusions move across interconnected nodes over time, the algorithm maps attack propagation chains, identifies vulnerable assets, and automatically generates targeted defensive countermeasures matched to available network resources.
While framed as an enterprise cybersecurity innovation, the underlying mechanics carry significant dual-use potential for military defense and national security operations. In modern network-centric warfare, protecting military Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) networks requires automated active defense capabilities—often referred to as Moving Target Defense (MTD)—that can reconfigure network topologies faster than human adversaries can exploit them.
By deploying temporal graph neural networks (TGNNs) to forecast threat trajectories, such systems enable automated networks to preemptively isolate attack vectors and safeguard critical military infrastructure, government databases, and key defense contractors against advanced persistent threats (APTs) and nation-state cyber offensives.
Established in June 2013 in Hangzhou’s Binjiang high-tech district, Hangzhou Zhangdong Technology Co., Ltd. operates with a registered capital of 35.4 million yuan ($5 million). The private enterprise holds multiple software intellectual property assets, exemplifying the domestic commercial firms expanding China's defense-relevant artificial intelligence and active cyber-defense software ecosystem.
