Shanghai Players Organize First Network Game Alliance

August 17, 2004
Editorial Staff

Yesterday afternoon China's first online game players alliance was established in Shanghai.

The establishment of the alliance has been applauded by the Network Game Commission of Shanghai's Information Service Industry Association. Establishment of the consumer organization is aimed at helping to protect online game players' interests where there are no relevant state regulations and policies in place.

Currently, China has rules prohibiting underage users at Internet cafes and also strict regulations regarding the licenses of game software developers. However there are still loopholes, and the organization is focused on self-policing the game industry in Shanghai.
