Flextronics, a Singapore-headquartered electronics manufacturing services provider, will acquire Motorola Mobility's plant in Tianjin.

Flextronics did not reveal the financial details of the deal. However, the company revealed that the two parties will sign another agreement and Flextronics will manufacture Android devices for Motorola Mobility.

Si Xuanjun, product public relations manager for Motorola Mobility China region, told local media that this transaction is only part of Motorola Mobility's global strategic adjustment, and the company plans to concentrate its resources in the most value-added parts. Si said the transaction is still subject to the approvals of related Chinese government departments, and it is expected to be completed in the first half of 2013. Before the closure of the deal, the Tianjin plant will maintain normal operations. On the closing of the deal, all employees in the plant will receive compensation from Motorola Mobility and they can also receive new contracts from Flextronics.

Located in the Binhai new area, Motorola Mobility's Tianjin plant was established in 1992. The whole building is divided into two phases, with an area of about 57,000 square meters and 10,000 employees. About 90% of Motorola's smartphone devices are made in this plant.

Founded in 1969, Flextronics is a Singapore-headquartered and Nasdaq-listed electronics manufacturing services provider. The company is unique in its ability to provide end-to-end solutions via its innovative and proprietary systems, aiming to enhance customer competitiveness and success.
