SEMI has announced its support for a U.S. Government-sponsored Microelectronics Trade Mission that will coincide with the SEMICON China 2005 exposition in March.

SEMI is a global industry association serving companies that develop and provide manufacturing technology and materials to the global semiconductor, flat panel display, MEMS and related microelectronics industries.

The U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration (DOC/ITA) will host the trade mission to Shanghai from March 14-17 and a senior ITA official will lead the delegation. SEMI will support the initiative by providing exhibition space at SEMICON China 2005, to be held in Shanghai from March 15 to 17.

"SEMI is again pleased to support the U.S. Department of Commerce in its efforts to promote business co-operation between the microelectronics industries in China and the U.S.," said Stanley T. Myers, president and CEO of SEMI. "The trade mission provides an excellent opportunity for small to medium-sized companies to take advantage of opportunities in the growing Chinese technology market."

Mission participants will gain first-hand market exposure through meetings with government decision makers and potential agents, distributors, and business partners from the private sector. The mission will include representatives from U.S. firms specializing in microelectronics manufacturing and distribution.
