ZTE To Build 5G Infrastructure In Myanmar

China's ZTE and Myanmar's Ooredoo recently signed a memorandum of understanding and the two parties will implement cooperation in 5G network development.

The cooperation is a part of Ooredoo's network modernization plan, which will prepare Myanmar for 5G evolution. In this partnership, ZTE will use its technology advantage to support Ooredoo and provide world-class telecom infrastructure to Burmese people.

Alok Verma, acting CEO of Ooredoo, said that they are glad to sign the MOU with ZTE. ZTE is one of the leaders of advanced telecom technologies and Ooredoo is the first telecom operator to distribute in 5G development in Myanmar, because they realize the potential of 5G. They are looking forward to cooperate with ZTE in this exciting new sector.

Mei Zhonghua, senior vice president of ZTE, said that they are looking forward to use Ooredoo's global 5G technologies in their cooperation in Myanmar. 5G is the future of mobile technology and it aims to meet the upgraded and complex performance demands. With super low latency, it will promote the development of mobile, wireless network, telemedicine, virtual reality, and ultra high definition video. Meanwhile, it can enhance digital experience of customers and help them enjoy the Internet in a new way.

Ooredoo is a foreign-invested mobile communications company that entered the Myanmar market in 2014. The company has about 11 million users in Myanmar, making it the third largest carrier in the country.
