With the launch of the QBOX, Shanghai Telecom hopes to decrease the amount of consumer complaints about the poor quality of PHS phones used indoors.

Shanghai Telecom will start its sales campaign for the QBOX within the next week. No pricing information is currently available.

Via the QBOX, which is a small phone device that that binds the Little Smart (PHS) phones to a normal landline phone, phone users will have better voice clarity and no worries about signal strength.

When a QBOX number is dialed, both QBOX and Little Smart phones will ring; when the Little Smart number is dialed, only the Little Smart phone will ring.

UTStarcom (UTSI), manufacturer of QBOX, says the link between Little Smart phones and the QBOX can be maintained up to 100 meters.
