Chinese Linux developer Red Flag announced that it is backing Linux Standard Base 3.1.

The Free Standards Group, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing and promoting open source software standards, and the LSB workgroup announced thirteen other leading Linux vendors around the world have united behind the Linux Standard Base 3.1, the first version of the LSB to include support for portable Linux desktop applications.

"Red Flag is a long term supporter of the Linux Standard Base," said Chris Zhao, the President of Red Flag. "The announcement of 3.1 and inclusion of desktop specifications is good news for the Linux industry. This will help our efforts of promoting Linux in China and throughout the world. We look forward to certifying Red Flag in the new certification center in China."

Since its founding in June 2000, Red Flag Software has been growing rapidly to be the largest Linux company in China with more than 150 employees. Headquartered in Beijing, there are two subsidiaries in Guangzhou and Shanghai, and established sales channels and service networks are deployed nationwide.
