Xinnet.com, one of the domain name registration organizations in China, was attacked by hackers on September 21 while the China Internet Conference, the annual grand event of the industry, was being held.

According to incomplete statistics from local media, over 10,000 websites that used Xinnet as a host and registrar have been affected.

Xinnet.com apologized to users for the server breakdowns and expressed strong condemnation for the hackers' behaviors. However, it says that it will not compensate users for the relevant losses as it is also a victim itself.

Some affected websites have resumed operations, but others are still under repair.
