Symbian Eyes China, Japan

With the growth of the Asian market, mobile phone system supplier Symbian has turned its eyes to Chinese and Japanese markets.

Symbian says that in the third quarter of this year, nine out of every 15 mobile phones sold by its partners in the Asia market were in China and Japan and its smartphone sales in Japan has already topped 30 million, accounting for 72% of the country's smartphone sales.

Symbian says that 12% of its mobile phones are currently sold in China, but mobile phones based on the Symbian operating system have taken about 60% of China's smartphone market.
