China Netcom has launched a Lost & Found Service based on its 116114 telephone navigation platform, providing two fast communications channels of voice and Internet for property losers and finders.

According to a representative from China Netcom, the new service is free — they do not charge any fees from users for registering a loss or releasing a piece of information about a find.

Users can release information about property through two means. First, they can call 116114, and second, they can go to China Netcom's website. The system will match all the information and once a piece of lost property information is matched with a found piece of property, the operator of 116114 will contact the loser to claim the property.
