Because of distribution of unauthorized television programs, eight netcafes and TV program providers in Shanghai have been sentenced to pay a total of CNY65000 in fines.

The eight violators include Shanghai Qiangming Gongzhong Computer House; Shanghai Zhiye Computer Technology Co., Ltd; and Shanghai Kuanwu Digital Technology Co., Ltd. Beijing No. 2 Secondary People's Court held a collective hearing on the accusations against them raised by Beijing Netmovie Co., Ltd, which is reportedly to be the exclusive license owner of the concerned TV programs and sentenced the defendants to pay the compensation to Netmovie.

The court said that they had received up to 20 cases regarding netcafes' use of unauthorized movie and TV programs from the end of last year to early this year.
