China Firmly Starts WLAN Standard

March 3, 2004
Editorial Staff

China is determined to implement its WLAN standard on June 1 despite facing continued opposition from some foreign countries.

Both sides are attempting to solve the problem of double standards, but there has been no substantial progress made to date.

According to reports, China's protocol mechanism for the WLAN IP Standard has been reviewed and acknowledged by ISO/IEC authorized institutions, meaning that the standard has reached the level of advanced international standards with regard to solving WLAN safety problems. Chinese regulators maintain, therefore, that it is imperative for the standard to be implemented on schedule both technically and strategically.
