According to the latest sales report released by China's TV maker TCL Group, in October 2008, the company sold 421,000 LCD TVs, a year-on-year increase of 184.7%.

The report says the sales of the company's LCD TVs maintained a stable growth in the global market, with exception of the North America market where consumers' demand was greatly affected by the financial crisis. However, because of the large sales volume of the traditional CRT color TV, the company was still in the leading position in the CRT market of North America.

For the mobile handset sector, the group sold 1.39 million handsets in the period concerned, a year-on-year increase of 1.72%. Although the overseas sales of handsets was also affected by the financial crisis, the company's performance in the domestic Chinese market was improved. In the fourth quarter of 2008, TCL Group plans to launch new camera mobile phones in overseas markets to increase its shipment totals. At the same time, the company will extend its business by further expanding into emerging markets such as countries in Africa and around the Indian Ocean.

By reports released by TCL over the past three quarters of 2008, the global financial crisis brought less influence on the company than that on its foreign counterparts. However, it is actively preparing for this severe crisis and the company has set up a new risk control group to oversee the company's accounts receivable and exchange rate risks.
