China Unicom Publishes Operating Statistics For November 2008

China Unicom has published its operating statistics for November 2008, which state the number of its GSM mobile phone users increased by 996,000 during the month, reaching an accumulated number of 133 million users.

At the same time, for its fixed-line businesses, the number of its local phone users increased by 1.52 million, reaching the total number of 105 million while the number of broadband users increased by 234,000, reaching the total number of 25.43 million.

According to China Unicom's statistics for October 2008, its GSM mobile phone users increased 1.219 million to 132 million by the end of October. Its local phone users decreased 792,000 to 107 million and its broadband users increased 345,000 to 25.204 million.

Chairman of China Unicom Chang Xiaobing said during a seminar recently held in Macau that the charges in Chinese mainland's mobile communications industry could be further reduced, but he did not say whether China Unicom would lower the prices of its services or not.
