Huawei Will Launch China's First Android Mobile Phone In Q3 2009

At the four-day Mobile World Congress held this week in Barcelona, Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei displayed its first Android-based high-end smartphone, which is due to enter the market in the third quarter of 2009.

Chen Chongjun, director for Huawei's terminal marketing project department, says that this Android-based high-end smartphone is a milestone product in the development of Huawei's mobile phone sector. With innovative designs in its appearance and software, the new smartphone will provide unprecedented entertainment experience to users.

Since Google launched the Android operating system, many mobile phone manufacturers have been devoted to developing Android-based mobile phones. Prior to this, the Taiwan-headquartered HTC launched the world's first Android-based mobile phone product G1, but this product is not available on the Chinese mainland.

Rumors swirling on the Chinese Internet state that China Mobile is currently cooperating with Lenovo in launching Android-based smartphones and these smartphones will be unveiled in March or April 2009.
