Former US president Barack Obama kicked up a storm on a visit to Britain back in 2016 when he warned that the UK would be at the “back of the queue” in any trade deal with the US if the country opted to leave the EU. Obama, on a state visit just two months before the Brexit vote, was vilified by Brexiteers for his surprise intervention in what they claimed was a domestic issue.
