China Netcom has reached a cooperation agreement with VeriSign to launch root domain name mirror servers to provide more convenience to Chinese users.

With China Netcom's new server service, the domain name lookups for Chinese netizens visiting .com and .net no longer need to be processed by domain name servers in overseas countries, and their online surfing speeds will be greatly accelerated and online security be guaranteed.

The setup of the mirroring servers is implemented by China Netcom and Versign under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Information Industry of China, as it is important to China's Internet industry.

For a long time, the domain name analysis service for Chinese users regularly visiting .com and .net websites has been provided by domain name servers located outside of China, which limits Chinese users' online surfing speeds and. according to local Chinese sources, endangers the country's information network security.
