Aspire Digital is building a dedicated manufacturing facility in Huizhou, China, to produce both OEM and branded audio-video components and systems. Production of the initial product line, DVD recorders, is expected to begin February 2004.
The first DVD recorders will be produced in two versions, one with a standard USB connection and the other with IEEE 1394 (firewire) for fast download times from digital camcorder tapes and digital cameras. Eleven different housing designs have been developed for OEM customers. The unit is designed to record onto blank DVD+R or DVD+RW discs, both of which are compatible with most DVD players sold today. DVD editing software is included. (Users new to DVD recording should note that Aspire Digital's products respect the copy-protection present on most commercial DVDs and will not record from them.)
The unit delivers superior-quality playback from virtually all audio or video disc formats, including DVD, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD, CD-R/RW, CD+G, JPEG, WMA, MP3 and Kodak Picture CD. Progressive Scan, Dolby 5.1 audio output, Dolby Digital AC-3 decoder and DTS digital audio output combine to provide expansive sound and crisp images. The unit includes 4:3/16:9 display conversion, as well as parental lock settings. Both NTSC and PAL formatting are provided for worldwide compatibility. Optical and coaxial outputs are provided for higher speed digital processing. Composite video and analog stereo outputs are also included.
