Unicom Commited To Java

China Unicom has formed an agreement with Sun and service provider ZRRT to deliver a comprehensive range of Java-based services to subscribers.

The operator is working with Sun under the terms of a September 2003 agreement to develop UniJa, an end-to-end environment for delivering mobile services. Unicom will provide the UniJa specification to handset manufacturers to ensure widespread availability of compatible devices.

The three companies will also work together to found a Java Development Lab to further enhance the UniJa technology, provide certification and training.
