China Network Communications Group (CNG) has announced that it will use the Cisco 10000 Edge Services Router as part of its aggressive expansion of broadband services in Shandong, Liaoning, and Hangzhou provinces.

The announced system upgrade is part of CNG's long-term program to provide the most advanced broadband services to its over 17.8 million subscribers across China. Combined, the three provinces currently have over 1 million broadband subscribers, but demand for services is expected to double over the next year. CNG expects this growth to come from both residential as well as commercial subscribers, and will require additional network performance, scalability, and service quality.
