MapInfo Corporation, a provider of location-intelligence solutions, today announced the signing of an exclusive two year distributor agreement with Beijing Jade Bird Commerce Technology Co. Ltd., one of the independent software vendor (ISV) and systems integrators in China.
Also today, MapInfo formally announced Beijing as its North Asian headquarters and will be hiring additional employees in marketing, product management, technical support and business development.
MapInfo has been active in North Asia for the past seven years and has a network of partners and customers in the government, telecommunications and commercial sectors. North Asia customers include Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), SinoPEC, Beingjing CDC, Ministry of Railway, Beijing Public Security, China Telecom and China Mobile in mainland China; Department of Land Management and PCCW Limited in Hong Kong; and Vondelon International Corporation, Central Geological Survey and The Industrial Technology Research Institute in Taiwan. Customers in Korea include ChoHeung Bank, PowerComm and Korea Telecom.
As part of MapInfo's expansion strategy, the company plans to implement Authorized Training Centers that will provide customers with MapInfo course certification. Additional MapInfo partners in the region include Go2map, Towery, Sichuan PTS, and Shanghai Dima in mainland China; MapAsia in Hong Kong; Systems and Technology Corporation in Taiwan; and Samsung Office Computer in Korea.
