Cooper Industries Enters Into JV In China

Cooper Industries, Ltd. today announced that Cooper (China) Co., Ltd., Cooper's newly- formed China holding company, and Shanghai Power Transmission & Distribution Co., Ltd. have formed a joint venture to produce capacitors developed by Cooper Power Systems for the Chinese power equipment market.

Cooper (China) Co. owns a majority of the equity in the joint venture, to be known as Cooper Shanghai Power Capacitor Co., Ltd. Other terms and conditions were not disclosed. The joint venture is expected to receive final approval from the Chinese government in the next few months. The joint venture will produce capacitors in a manufacturing facility to be built in the Shanghai, China area.

Cooper Power Systems, a division of Cooper Industries, manufactures equipment, components and systems for the distribution and management of electrical power for electric utility, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide. Headquartered in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the division has manufacturing facilities in 10 domestic locations and three international locations. Cooper Power Systems capacitors area sold world wide and are currently in service in Canada, Europe, Brazil, Vietnam, and China, among others.
