China Mobile's interim results, posted today, for 2004 showed that as of June 30, the company's mobile subscriber base reached 158.6 million, representing a net increase of 17.02 million subscribers when compared to the end of 2003.
The company's new businesses have shown a growth trend, with short message service (SMS), maintaining stable growth, and other new businesses, such as "Color Ring" and WAP, recording some growth too. Total revenue from new businesses reached CNY 11,105 million, representing 12.9 percent. of the total operating revenue of the company as of June 30, 2004.
China Mobile reported operating revenue, EBITDA and net profit reaching CNY11729 million, CNY5829 million and CNY1587 million, respectively, representing an increase of 14.5 percent, 22.9 percent and 50.9 percent,respectively, over the same period last year.
