China Mobile To Provide Consumer-Friendly Contracts

February 22, 2006
Telecom & Wireless

China Mobile (CHA) says it will take a lead in the country to remove unequal and unfair clauses from its network access contracts used to register its mobile phone users.

China Mobile has added more commitments to consumers regarding basic service and it has simplified terminology of four clauses that list users' obligations.

It has cancelled such clauses as "the mobile company has the exclusive right to interpret the service" from its contract and says it will notify the users on network expansion and price adjustments.

The new contract has been reviewed and it will be put into use starting March 15, 2006.
