Microsoft (MSFT) says the Internet Explorer 7 browser will fully support Chinese domain names and the company has announced that it will further make its Windows platform fully support .cn domains.

Microsoft made the announcement at an ICANN meeting held in Morocco in which Michel Suignard, a representative from Microsoft, declared that hthe company will push forward the application of multilanguage domain names, including .cn.

Michel Suignard said that the ultimate goal is to have other types of browsers support .cn domain name through Microsoft's platform and services.

Chinese domain name registrars view Microsoft's efforts as a breakthrough for the promotion of .cn domain names because it helps Chinese users enjoy a barrier-free experience when they browse Internet content in their own language.
