The Standardization Administration of China has published the new digital television ground transmission standard, which will be formally implemented on August 1, 2007.

The new standard, called "Frame Structure, Channel Code and Modem for Digital TV Ground Broadcasting Transmission System", carries the serial number GB 20600-2006 is a nationwide compulsory standard that is based on Tsinghua University's DMB-T standard and Shanghai Jiaotong University's ADTB-T standard.

Now that the standard has been unveiled, the primary task for concerned agencies and government departments is to shift their analog signals into digital signals and launch mobile digital television services in places where the conditions are mature.

At present, more than 30 cities in China have carried out experimental work on mobile television broadcasting services, but most of their systems need to be replaced and updated with the components of this new system.
