CCTV.com has chosen Chinese Internet portal Sohu.com (SOHU) as its strategic partner for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Wang Wenbin, general manager of CCTV.com, says that by joining forces with Sohu, the parties would be able to bring the advantages of their brands, operations and resources into play, and the integration of their resources would not only advance each of their strengths, but also provide better service to clients.

Charles Zhang, chairman and CEO of Sohu.com, says that CCTV.com covers the most extensive TV audience in China, while Sohu 3.0, scheduled to come out soon, represents the development direction of China's Internet business. The parties, by combining the two sides' advantages with the opportunities brought by the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, will bring an unprecedented experience for TV audience and internet users, Zhang says.

Set up in 1996, CCTV.com is one of the first Chinese language information websites in China. As a sponsor of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Sohu.com owns more than 100 million registered users.
