Alcatel-Lucent Signs Cooperation Agreement In China

Alcatel-Lucent has signed a EUR750 million agreement with China Mobile (CHL) and China Unicom (CHU).

Under the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will provide mobile communications solutions for both Chinese mobile service operators, which is expected to increase the parties' network capacity and mobile network coverage rate.

Alcatel-Lucent's agreement with China Mobile is worth about EUR600 million. According to the agreement Alcatel-Lucent will provide end-to-end mobile solutions for China Mobile, including GSM/GPRS/EDGE and related services and will provide TD-SCDMA solutions for the latter. According to the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will provide CDMA, GSM/GPRS and related services to China Unicom to meet the latter's demands in network expansion. It will also provide high speed data network upgrading service for China Unicom's 3G CDMA 1xECVDO in Macau.
