A new long-range air-to-air missile developed by the U.S. Navy, the AIM-424 Malice, with a range exceeding 287 miles, is aimed at countering China's growing air power in Asia.
The missile's development comes in response to China's recent success in long-range air-to-air engagements, notably during an aerial battle between Pakistan and India where Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian combat aircraft at ranges up to 125 miles. This victory was attributed to Pakistan's acquisition of advanced Chengdu Aircraft Corporation J-10CE fighters armed with long-range Luoyang PL-15E missiles.
