According to a report on investments in China's high-tech industry in the first nine months of 2008 released by the High Technology Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, by September 30, 2008, about CNY153.37 billion has been invested in China's electronics and communication equipment manufacturing industry and the investments in the computer and office equipment manufacturing industry topped CNY19.02 billion.

The report says from January to September 2008, the investments in China's electronics and communication equipment manufacturing industry were CNY153.37 billion. During the period, the value of newly-added fixed assets was CNY52.31 billion; 2,707 projects were being constructed; 1,271 new projects were started; and 397 projects were put into production.

Of those, the planned investments for communication equipment manufacturing industry, including communication transmission equipment, communication exchange equipment, communication terminal equipment and telecommunication and terminal equipment, were CNY77.86 billion and the actually completed investments were CNY20.07 billion. The value of newly-added fixed assets was CNY4.79 billion; 354 projects were being constructed; 165 new projects were started; and 47 projects were put into production.

For the computer and office equipment manufacturing industry, including computer manufacturing, network equipment manufacturing, computer peripherals manufacturing and office equipment manufacturing, the planned investments were CNY73.22 billion and the actually completed investments were CNY19.02 billion. The value of newly-added fixed assets was CNY10.53 billion; 297 projects were being constructed; 118 new projects were started; and 39 projects were put into production.
