BNS, Mitel To Provide Tech Services In Greater China

October 16, 2009
Gadgets & Electronics

Hong Kong-headquartered IP television technology and program provider BNS and the unified communication solutions provider Mitel have jointly developed an integrated solution for high-definition IP television and IP telephones to provide new quality room service experiences to hotel customers in the region.

With the help of the LCD touchscreen of Mitel's 5360 telephone, hotel guests will be able to enjoy BNS's indoor smart IPTV system navigation and the high-definition entertainment services of hotels. Mitel's IP PBX system also allows guests to activate the IP telephones in their rooms with a TV remote control.

According to a press release about this new cooperation, hotels will be free from the troubles of updating their services if they use this new solution. The services offered by the hotels will be introduced via high-definition televisions. If guests are interested in some services, they can complete the bookings with an one-touch operation, instead of consulting the hotel staff.

Founded in Hong Kong in 2003, BNS provides IPTV-based content and technology solutions for broadband service providers and enterprises interested in maximizing their potential with IP-based solutions, such as Telco IPTV, Hotel & MDU IPTV, Internet TV, Mobile TV, IP Centric Headend and Enterprise A/V.

Mitel is a leading provider of communications solutions for a range of organizations. It offers customers a broad choice of solutions, from basic business communications to sophisticated unified communications, from pre-packaged to tailored applications, and from an outright capital purchase to a managed service. With its global headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, Mitel currently operates from over 100 locations in over 90 countries.

Neither company has provided an indication of what price points they plan for this service or which hotels in Greater China they plan to target for the service.
