Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE has announced that it has cooperated with the Uzbekistan cellular communications provider UCell in the launch of a LTE network in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan.
The construction of the network is based on ZTE's UniRAN solution using the advanced SDR technology. The network can support LTE services, including high definition media playing, upload and download of files, web browsing, and VoIP calls.
Oguz Memiguven, chief executive officer of UCell, said that they feel proud that Uzbekistan has become one of the countries that have the 4G communication network. As a member of the TeliaSonera Group, which has over 100 years of communication operation experience, UCell is committed to providing leading communication technologies and outstanding wireless data experience to customers.
UCell is a subsidiary of TeliaSonera Group and is the first that has deployed the LTE network in the Commonwealth of Independent States region. It is one of the largest wireless network operators in Uzbekistan with 5.416 million mobile users. It gained a license for the operation of 4G business in July 2010.
By July 2010, ZTE had participated in the LTE commercial construction of seven high-end operators with nearly 50 trial networks deployed across the world.
