The Chinese e-book technology company Hanvon has set up a subsidiary in Taiwan.
Following the setting up of its branch in Taiwan, Hanvon will start to sell its electronic reader products in this marketplace at the beginning of October 2010. Meanwhile, the Taiwanese version of Hanvon's e-book platform will be launched and about 2,000 e-books will be initially available.
Hanvon's Taiwanese e-book platform will focus on sales of traditional Chinese e-books.
Chen Shaoqiang, general manager for Hanvon's resource operating department, told local media that in the cooperation with Taiwanese publishers, Hanvon will offer a free-of-charge service to convert their books into the digital formats and the prices of these e-books will be decided by publishers. The publishers will gain 80% of the sales of the e-books.
