Nokia Bids Farewell To Biggest Chinese Retail Store

Nokia has closed its largest store in mainland China, a flagship retail outlet in Shanghai's busy shopping zone on Nanjing East Road.

Nokia also confirmed the news and said they will reduce self-owned stores in the future and enhance e-commerce, operator, and distributor sales channels.

A representative from Nokia China said the closure is mainly attributed to the company's strategic adjustment of retail channels. The representative revealed that starting from 2012, Nokia enhanced its e-commerce, operator and distributor retail channels, while reducing the number of self-owned stores.

The Nanjing East Road flagship store is not the first Chinese outlet closed by Nokia. In 2012, Nokia shut down its store in Zhongguancun, Beijing. The company's flagship store in Beijing's Ciqikou area was also closed last year.
