Chinese telecom device maker ZTE has launched its first Firefox OS smartphone named Open in Europe with the price of EUR69, which is about CNY552.
ZTE's Open adopts a 3.5-inch display with the resolution of 480×320. It has a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7225A processor, 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a 3.2 million pixel rear camera, and the GPS function. It is an entry-level smartphone and has a comparatively low price.
Mozilla, the developer of Firefox OS, created the open-source mobile operating system based on a Linux core. It uses open web technology and has been developed with HTML5.
Taking the Gecko browser engine as its core, Firefox OS applications are Internet-based. However, it can realize offline use via the HTML5 cache Manifest or other related APIs.
