Chinese telecom device maker Huawei and digital transfer services provider WorldRemit reached a deal to offer international transfer services to Huawei's mobile phone users in Africa.

David Chen, Huawei's vice president for the South Africa region, said in a statement that in Africa, international transfer is a very important mobile financial service. By cooperating with WorldRemit, Huawei will directly provide the international transfer service to its users in Africa.

In some regions of Africa, local residents prefer to transfer money on mobile phones and the tendency is even more obvious in some areas where traditional banking services are not yet popularized.

Meanwhile, with the cooperation with Huawei, WorldRemit will be able to access Huawei's more than 100 million mobile phone accounts and provide basic banking services to Huawei mobile phone users.

Huawei and WorldRemit said with the cooperation, they will lower the technical barrier for integration of mobile operator and mobile financial services provider, which will allow Huawei's all partners to rapidly provide international transfer services.

Financial terms of the deal were not released.
