Razer Announced Gaming Cooperation With Tencent

The world's leading gaming peripherals brand Razer announced to reach cooperation with Tencent in the gaming sector.

It is said that the cooperation will cover hardware, software, and service. For hardware, Tencent's mobile game contents will be presented in an optimized form on Razer hardware, including Razer Phone and other mobile game peripherals like gamepad. For software, Tencent's games will be available on Razer's mobile game platform and the company's mobile game launcher Razer Cortex.

In addition, the two parties said that they may explore other monetization opportunities in mobile games. Tencent might integrate Razer's services in certain areas such as reward and loyalty programs.

Razer recently published its financial report for 2018, stating that the company's operating revenue increased by 38% year-on-year to USD712.4 million; while it made net losses of USD97 million during the reporting period. The company's net losses were USD164 million in 2017.

Meanwhile, Tencent's financial report for 2018 revealed that the company's operating revenue was CNY312.694 billion, a year-on-year increase of 32%; and its profit attributable to equity holders was CNY78.719 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10%.
