According to reports in Chinese local media, Tencent recently adjusted its short video business structure by cutting Yoo video team and merging it into Weishi and Tencent Video.
It is said that Yoo's core members, including product director, will all be transferred to Weishi. Meanwhile, Yoo's content procurement cooperation with content organizations was terminated in January 2019.
Commenting on the changes, Tencent said that to better explore the fusion development of long and short videos, the company decided to merge Yoo video business team into Tencent's video team and it will maintain normal operation.
In November 2018, Tencent officially launched Yoo video during its global cooperation partner conference. The business only lasts for five months.
