According to reports in Chinese local media, Xiaomi recently registered a camera technology research and development company in Tampere, Finland, aiming to realize further technology breakthrough in camera phone sector.
Finland is home to the former mobile phone giant Nokia and Nokia's many camera technologies were developed in the country. However, with the decline of Nokia, its technology staff flowed to other companies. Huawei also formed a camera team in Finland, which attracted many former Nokia employees.
By establishing the camera R&D company in Finland, Xiaomi intends to recruit local technical talents.
It is said that in recent years, Xiaomi gradually shifted its focus and paid more and more attention to the photo shooting phone market. Its latest released smartphone products also showed that the company changed its focus to camera phone, which is expected to attract more female users.
