The ecommerce giant expelled 600 Chinese brands from 3,000 seller accounts in this same country. The reason? fake or fraudulent reviews, according to the [South China Morning Post](//www.scmp.com/tech/big-tech/article/3149203/amazon-closes-3000-chinese-brand-online-stores-campaign-against-fake) .

As reported by [The Verge](//www.theverge.com/2021/9/17/22680269/amazon-ban-chinese-brands-review-abuse-fraud-policy) , some sellers and brands received positive reviews in exchange for gift cards or even free items. These practices violate Amazon policy, which has prohibited the practice of incentivized reviews since 2016.

According to [the reports](//www.scmp.com/tech/big-tech/article/3149203/amazon-closes-3000-chinese-brand-online-stores-campaign-against-fake) , the e-commerce company launched a cleaning campaign aimed at this type of actions since May of this year 2021, a situation that has put several merchants in the Asian country in trouble.

For its part, the firm founded by Jeff Bezos issued a [statement](//www.theverge.com/2021/9/17/22680269/amazon-ban-chinese-brands-review-abuse-fraud-policy) in which they explain that they are working hard so that their customers can make their purchases with confidence and, in turn, sellers can grow their business through healthy competition.

The report also highlights that the company has clear policies that prohibit abuse of community features… and that they will continue to improve abuse detection and take action against bad actors.
