OFAC will publish at [ citation pending ] in the February 16, 2022, Federal Register new regulations at 31 CFR part 586 to implement two executive orders relating to securities investments that finance Communist Chinese military companies, the Chinese military-industrial complex, and Chinese surveillance technology. The regulations become effective upon publication. OFAC intends to supplement these regulations with a more comprehensive set of regulations, which may include additional interpretive guidance and definitions, general licenses, and other regulatory provisions.
